In order to purchase property on the private island of Pine Cay, any purchaser must be approved as a member of the Pine Cay Homeowners Association. Memberships are very limited, to allow each homeowner sufficient space to enjoy the magnificent views, fresh breezes and quiet peacefulness of this 800 acre private island. Joining the community of Pine Cay is a mutual process whereby those interested in membership meet together with homeowners to ensure compatible goals are shared. Both in informal settings – cocktails, dinner, activities, - and in formal meetings, the legal and financial obligations of the membership are explained, and the social dynamic experienced. A significant membership initiation fee is charged, and annual dues at set at the yearly AGM for the association.

Many visits to the island are part of the membership approval process, as it is critical that potential new members fully understand the lifestyle and commitment of Pine Cay, and equally critical that the members get to know those interested in joining the community. It is a process that demands patience; most sales on Pine Cay take at least 12-18 months to close, once a definitive offer has been accepted. Buying a Pine Cay property is a very special privilege.

The members own the entire 800 acre island, including the hotel, 2,800 ft airstrip, staff village, workshops, covered boat storage and marina.

The gourmet dining offered at all meals is a pleasure, regular weekly features bring members to mingle with guests in a relaxed manner, and all enjoy the sunsets from the gracious upstairs bar. • The private airstrip allows members to arrive in their own planes, with a generous tie down area for safe storage while on island. • The staff on Pine Cay generally live on island, with rooms, dormitories and staff houses furnished for them. A staff dining room and recreation area are also provided.
• The marina and boat storage area offer all security, maintenance and docking facilities for boat enthusiasts. Homeowners have access to a full range of services including complete home maintenance with skilled repairmen, gardeners and domestic staff as needed, plus care of your home while you on island and while you are away is easily arranged and responsibly managed. In addition, a full service rental programme is available for those members wishing to rent their home when not in residence which includes advertising, booking, cleaning and concierge for the renting guests, all managed for you completely by hotel staff. From the establishment of this community in the 1970's, a strong and proactive environmental ethic has been in place to preserve the island. The limited total membership ensures that the island will forever uncrowded, with privacy protected for all.
